Classification of SOR in SORGOdb

Among the 324 SOR sequences included in SORGOdb, 85 % (ca.26%) are annotated as "hypothetical proteins" in the NCBI and around 20 of these proteins have innappropriate annotations such as "regulators", "acetyltransferase", "chemokine receptor", "cytidine deaminase", "DNA topoisomerase", "PTS system component"

Synonyms are also used in an indisciminant way. For example, rubredoxin oxidoreductase (Rbo) is also called desulfoferrodoxin (Dfx) and both terms were found in the initial description.

SORGOdb proposes a new classification and ontology for superoxide reductase sequences.

SORGOdb integrates the multi-domain structure of SORs proteins and proposes 7 new classes, based on the component domain architecture.
